Chamomile flowers are deeply embedded in many cultures, and many legends and myths are associated with them. In Greek mythology, chamomile flowers were believed to have healing properties, and they were one of the nine sacred herbs given to the goddess Venus by Apollo. Similarly, in ancient Egyptian culture, chamomile was associated with the sun god Ra, and it was believed to have calming properties that were useful in treating anxiety and stress. William Shakespeare mentioned the chamomile flower numerous times in his works, and it is thought to symbolize the caring and nurturing nature of the female protagonist. The flower also appears often in Victorian art, where it was a symbol of innocence and beauty.
Chamomile, Matricaria recutita, when used in both Traditional Herbal Medicine or in Flower Essence form, has a soothing effect for one's being, whether anti-inflammatory benefits for the skin and digestive system, or promoting relaxation to the nervous system and emotional waters. Chamomile flower essence works through the energy circuits that relate to the peripheral nervous system and nerve endings where the physical skin interfaces with the world and the “emotional skin” interacts with daily life. It calms the heightened reaction to touch, electromagnetics, and other irritants. With it's warm yellow centre and pure white, delicate petals, Chamomile is an ally for bringing a sense of gentleness to our healing journeys. Especially helpful for those who have fluctuating emotional moods and are easily triggered by their environment and social situations.

As an essence, Chamomile promotes inner nurturance and spiritual development that emerges from a calm and balanced nervous system. Chamomile reminds us of our inner centre of warmth, ease and peace.

Flower Essences (FE) are a form of botanical, homeopathic medicine. A liquid extract that essentially contains the energetic blueprint or signature of the flowering part of a plant. Flower essences carry the distilled wisdom + gifts that each flower has to share with the world through capturing the energetic essence, sacred geometry and resonance harmony of the flower into a water matrix.
Flower Essences are medicine of the Heart + Spirit.
It is the flower essence's subtlety and simplicity that make these medicines so potent. Working with FE requires an opening in our thinking beyond the materialistic assumptions of more and stronger are better. They invite us into presence with gentleness, sensitivity and receptivity to life and it's flourishing potential. FE function beyond the limits of the symptomatic approach of the modern medical system, they are not merely remedies to fix emotional symptoms, rather they serve as catalysts for awareness, transformation and connection.
